YES… with nothing you can buy at PetsMart or at Walmart’s.. you have to go to a Feed store(most all cities haves them) where they sell hay for horses, bridles, bird seeds, dog/cat commodities and ask for a commodity(liquid) that combats sarcoptic mange.. That is the best. I have used it many many times. Unfortunately.. it does SMELL but it gets the job done.
OH yes.. that is unless you go to a veterinary place and have a prescription filled…

bring him to the vet, he will give you something a prescription for it…there are different kinds of mange…so if you get something at walmart and use
it,it might not work…

The only kind of mange that hamsters can get is also transferrable to humans- watch out! In fact, the hamster is more likely to have caught it from a human in the first place than another animal. Did you ever hear of "crabs" in health class in school? That’s what sarcoptic mange is.
So, take the little guy to a vet to make sure that’s what it really is, and if so the vet can give you a prescription. Look in your local phone book for a vet that specializes in Exotics… most "dog and cat" vets won’t know what to do for a hamster. If the vet confirms that mange is the problem, always wear gloves when handling the hamster or his bedding, or you may get this parasite as well!
