I might have a bird mite infestation in my home. Is sulfur lime dip safe for cats if I bring them to a vet?
I read that sulfur lime dip will help cats with mites. Is this safe for them? What are the side effects?
Sorry I have never heard of that and I have been around and breeding Maine Coons for a very long time. You may have to call your vet and talk to them.

The Lym Dip is used for Ringworm.

If at all possible, Have someone lookafter the cats until you have had the house funigated.

If you have a bird mite infestation you are going to have to call an exterminator plus consult with a physician about yourself treatment for yourself other humans and with a veterinarian about treatment for your cat (and bird if you have them).
It won’t be cost-effective to treat the residents if the house itself is infested with mites. You will all get them over and over.
Ask the vet which treatments would work on the cat and have him or her do it, whatever it is. Sulfur-lime treatments kill the mites that cause sarcoptic mange but might not kill other species of mites. Ditto Revolution – it kills ear mites but might not kill the bird mites.
So it would be best to first treat the house, then the residents.
You will need to remove the cats from the house if you are having an exterminator and find a place they can stay overnight.
Also, I read about using food grade diatomaceous earth with mite problems but have no experience at all with it. You might Google "food grade diatomaceous earth" and research whether it might be helpful. At least it is non-toxic and relatively inexpensive.

It is due to the demodex mite. You must also ask him about the effect of the mange on yourself, so that you can at last make use of gloves, and so on.
