How do I treat the mange located on my dogs face?
My dog has sarcoptic mange and It is mainly on his face. The vet gave me mitactin to treat him, but how do I treat it on his face and avoid getting it in his eyes?
it is for sure mange….I already took him to the vet, that is how I got the dip medication.
the vet only gave him shots and issued the medication and told me to dip him every other week or every other 10 days. but you cant dip his head.

So my Vet said my dog has mange and gave me medicine to treat it a few weeks ago. It’s been getting better but I just want to know how dogs get mange? Does anyone know? So I can prevent it next time!!
what kind of mange? demodex or sarcoptic? if its demodex, that is a mite that is normally present in the dogs skin but during times of stress or when the immune system is low, the mites become too much for the dogs system to control. if its sarcoptic mange that is contagious to people and other dogs.
Will dunking my dog in motor oil get rid of his mange?
My friend tells me a cheap way to get rid of a dogs mange is to dunk him in motor oil. Is this true?
Ugh, please don’t dunk your poor dog in motor oil. It isn’t going to cure the mange, cleaning him will be awful, he’ll poison himself when licking his fur, and he’s already suffering with untreated mange and doesn’t need the trauma of being dowsed in oil. Get your poor dog to the vet for treatment. Mange is a miserable disease so the sooner the better, it isn’t genetic, it’s a parasite that’s eating your dog’s skin. It will cost money but part of responsible dog ownership is taking care of medical needs.
